Seasoned Love

:icq: "Keiken yutakana ai" is Japanese literally translating to "Seasoned Love" (according to my friend ~gale18514). This was the original title but I've now decided to stick with its English counterpart.


:icq: Initially, a thought about angel-demon theme first came to me but i think it's quite overused so i wondered what opposites are cute to match... at that time, i was toiling over the really bad heat then a sudden rain then back to being sunny again so i came about a "season" theme.

:icq: After chancing on the season theme, I paired Summer-Winter and Spring-Autumn.. the first choice was pretty good but i think the colors aren't that many and there's no common thing about the two to represent a season (or maybe i was just this stupid. Forgive me). So, i ended up with Spring-Fall because of the leaf element they possess.


:icq: The girl and boy are my spontaneous OCs... they act as the "spirits" of Spring and Autumn.. but sorry guys there's no written story beyond this.

:icq: Sorry if i painted this that it looked like autumn dominated... it's a bad thing i think... ><

Opposites in this artwork, defined!</B>

:icq: Spring and Autumn are "opposites" because at spring, the leaves are at their best, pigments such as chlorophyll are so substantial and so alive (that's why it's green in appearance) while during autumn, the leaves start to wither and die, and the chlorophyll is wearing away, giving the orange to brown shades. Well... correct me if im wrong but this was a note from the lecture from my botany teacher back in high school. Hehe~! _{now i know why paying attention during class lectures is worth it.}

So, with that said, this is not a death-life theme nor a forbidden love. It's just this as it is... and I based this on the seasons....

:icq: The colors i used here are warm and cool.. and as you may note, orange and green are found at opposite locations in the color wheel.

:icq: Another opposite here is where the characters stand on, like the Spring Spirit (the boy) is from above(or up) while the Autumn Spirit is standing below (or down).

:icq: Apparently, the characters here are a boy and a girl.

:icq: Hmm... short-haired and long-haired characters. haha! XD

What pulled the opposites to attract each other..</U>

:icq: The power of love! Enough said.
:icq: Technically, yellow pulled this artwork together. That color is in harmony with green and orange (the main colors)... though green and orange is already harmonious, and in order to make stuff even more harmonious, yellow did that part. Or so i think. _{I really sound stupid ... i'm so sorry!}

:icq: Mike-nee-sama scanned this for me. Thank you! It's really good~! No color was killed so no post-scan edits were made.

:icq: I actually drew this during the last week of May. Right now i'm experiencing artblock so i dunno when i will be able to do something like this. haha! XD

:icq: I had a hard time choosing where this artwork be rotated and flipped to be viewed at its best (while i was working on this, i was rotating the A4 paper as well)... it was presentable at all directions but i ended up on this one for the leaves.. like it's from spring (still green) and had fallen into autumn (already withered) effect. If you know what i mean...

:icq: I used colored pencils, colored pens, oil pastels, poster paints and ink.
